Instead of static slides, the new feature generates immersive, visually rich videos tailored specifically to your content. Google says these videos are designed to feel fluid and dynamic, using advanced animations and detailed visuals to improve understanding and engagement. The goal is to transform research notes and source documents into compelling, story driven experiences.
Under the hood, NotebookLM combines Gemini 3, Nano Banana Pro, and Veo 3. Google describes Gemini as a “creative director” that makes hundreds of structural and stylistic decisions. It selects the best narrative flow, visual style, and format for your material, and even refines the output to maintain consistency from start to finish.
This rollout begins today for Google AI Ultra subscribers in English on both web and mobile platforms.
NotebookLM App Improvements for Productivity
Google is also improving how NotebookLM connects with its broader ecosystem. A new shortcut allows users to open Google Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides directly in their native apps rather than viewing them inline. US English users can draft documents, build interactive tools, and even view underlying code directly within Search. This turns Google Search into more than a results page. It becomes a collaborative workspace.
Canvas appears as a side panel next to the chat interface, allowing you to continuously refine outputs without losing context. Whether you are building a custom tool, studying for exams, planning a trip, or drafting a long-form document, the process feels streamlined and integrated.
